Group 40
Projet Pedagogique Particulier
I am very excited to be running the Projet Pedagogique Particulier program this year, which has been set up to prepare students for a return to Grade 10 or for vocational training. The program will help students acquire the prerequisites necessary to move onto grade 10 for the 2022-2023 school year, or for admission to vocational training.
The basic characteristics of this program:
- it is established to meet the specific needs of at-risk students, who would otherwise be repeating grade 9.
-the environment of the program is set up to aid the at-risk learner in their behavioural, personal, and academic challenges. Smaller class sizes, a home room, core teachers and strong relationships result in a safe and caring environment for you, our students.
-the goal of the project is to provide a safe and caring environment, that encourages every student to achieve academic success, personal growth, social awareness, and self-respect.
- its teaching methods differ from customary classroom practices, as we will focus on English, French, Ethics and Math, along with an emphasis on building life skills and connections to the trades. You will be taking other courses, such as Home Economics, Sports for Life, Wood Exploration, Technique for Tools and Phys-Ed.
I will be teaching the following courses this year;
English Language Arts: This course will give students the tools to think critically, discuss, read, write and produce various English language texts. This will be accomplished in a safe and productive classroom community that both encourages critical thought while at the same time fosters respect.
Secondary English Language Arts has the following 3 competencies:
Talk: Uses language/talk to communicate and to learn
Reading: Reads and listens to written, spoken and media texts
Production: Produces texts for personal and social purposes
French: To expose students to the French language and its culture. To improve the student’s ability to function in a French environment. To improve vocabulary knowledge through a variety of situational exercises.
General content of course: ● Listening comprehension ● Comprehension of texts (Short stories, newspapers, magazines, websites, films, songs, clips, etc.) ● Discussion, debates, spontaneous interaction ● Variety of writings (lettres, texte d’opinion et texte descriptif) ● Projects.
Ethics and Religious Culture: In this program, ethics consists of critically reflecting on the values and norms that the members of a given society or group adopt in order to guide or regulate their conduct. Instruction in religious culture promotes an understanding of the main components of religions that is built on the exploration of the socio-cultural contexts in which they take root and continue to develop
Home Economics: Throughout the course, we will focus on nutrition, food, and cooking both in theory and in practice. Throughout the year, we will learn about: ● Meal planning ● Cooking terms & Canada’s food guide ● Safety and sanitation ● Balanced meals and a healthy diet ● Food and nutrition choices ● Food resources in the world ● The science of food
